Whoopi Goldberg never had to do another thing after this show as it was perfect. This was the breakout performance on HBO and she brings nuance and poignance to comedy with such profound deftness.
Her perception of humanity has such a delicate sophistication and the way she creates the different characters to tell the stories is genius. For me, she went instantly to the Lenny Bruce class with this single performance.
Keeping Kleenex handy is advisable as this is comedy along the lines of M*A*S*H and she is brilliant at it.
