Video Idea for "Ride the Dragon"

There's no way to get film of playing the instruments as they were played in the show.  Therefore, how does it go if I play them anyway ... but don't really play them.  For each instrument, I film the entire track and Silas does some pantomime jams.  Change shirts and hat, go off to guitar and do it again, etc.

When all these videos are shot, overlay them but cropping to move each subject off-center and then send all of them to partial transparency so you see them at the same time.

I need to visualize this before I do it as it is one gargantullossal waste of time to shoot it and bust out. For each pass, I need fifteen minutes to match the song.  At least an hour is gone just to film it.  Go into Final Cut to mix it.  Time of indeterminate duration goes by.  Render / transcode goes one or two hours with all that transparency.

Plan A is to do it with available light as that means the set would be identical each time.  Merging them coherently / logically wouldn't be tough.  Plan B is to do it full-boat maniac with all the lights and smoke.  Seems to me it's sure the song for that.

Checking out jams at the MusikCircus just now and will continue thinking of how this could happen. It can happen but should it.  Hmmm ... it leans more toward do it with lasers as I think of it.

Of course all the Silas images will wear Wayfarers and that's mandated by the lasers but ... what the hell ... just do it.  Whoa, each of them wear a different Laughing Gecko t-shirt.  Hats I've got.

Yep, it leans strongly to do it.
