Postcards from the Edge

A field in California after the oil corporations had no further use for it.

A clear-cut forest in Oregon after timber corporations had no further use for it.

Vote conservative and all of America can be like this.

Or do nothing and end up like Mexico City where nothing grows anywhere.

People hate the doom and gloom but I'm not predicting anything.  These are photographs.

Reality for a huge number has become cat videos and emoji hugs and they will resist as passively as possible anything that may disturb the illusion.  This is the largest purpose of social networks and why they're so immensely destructive, people are using them and each other as a security blanket to validate a false reality and then they live in it.  Slowly the world at large comes to a standstill as a result.  There's lots of motion but very little substantive action.

For example, engineering the peace deal with Iraq was hardly high-level diplomacy but the result has escaped every President for decades.  Rather than dancing in the streets as they're doing now in Iran, conservatives decided they would wreck it.  Absolutely stop progress anywhere.  No matter where, no matter what.  Stop it.  The Texas Super Collider isn't far from here.  They stopped that too.

I'm stopped.  I don't do anything except watch James Bond movies.  There's too much bad news that just never fucking stops and playing is just doing a bad imitation of Nero.

And no-one asks the really important questions like what genius thought it was a good idea to cast Roger Moore as 007.
