About the Nobel Peace Prize for Obama

No-one who ever murdered someone with a drone bomb is qualified to be a human being, much less a Nobel Peace Prize honoree, but Obama in recent months has made some real steps, as opposed to endless Washingtonian speeches, toward peace, the first I've seen from America in many years.

Opening Cuba was a masterstroke.  It's a move only a lame duck President would make so it's not really all that brave but it still counts as bullying Cuba for the last fifty years hasn't had any more justification than CIA vengeance after the fiasco they made of the Bay of Pigs invasion.  It also showed Castro has more balls than anyone in the CIA will ever have.

As observed elsewhere, John F Kennedy refused to provide air support for the fiasco and that's one of the big reasons the CIA hated him.  As we've seen since, the correction for the CIA to get around Presidents was to give them a big enough budget they could fly their own aircraft.  Presto, we have drone bombs.  The GOP has done more to undermine the White House than the Soviet Union.

Obama also ignored the GOP and that pompous ass, Netanyahu, by proceeding with the nuclear deal with Iran.  The stabilization this is bringing to the region is something that's escaped any President since the U.S. originally trashed Iran by installing the Shah.  That, too, was part of the decaying principle of anti-Stalinist resistance and the U.S. idea of itself as a police force.  We can see how the police force works now as Saudi Arabia bombs the living hell out of Yemen.  The Saudis learned American foreign policy well ... or ... more accurately, they learned GOP / CIA foreign policy.

So, I still wouldn't let Obama keep that Nobel Peace Prize but the work he has done lately would make me think about it for a while first.
