OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 - Black Screen and Crash

The problem with a black screen and an instant crash are attributed to a variety of things such as large JPEG files.  (AppleInsider:  OS X 10.10.3 triggering kernel panics when previewing JPEG files)

According to the article, Apple is aware of the problem and anticipates a fix in the next few weeks.  That's rumor but their reputation gives it credibility.

There's been a marked decline in quality control at Apple.  The machines are still top-notch but the software is not.  Episodes like this are common with Windows but they haven't been with Apple and it's senseless for the richest company in the world to cut back on quality assurance.  Most unusual.
