From an emotional state of dead suck, I went off to Nad Gough's show at Moondance and that was an instant good vibe. Nad Gough is one hell of a good guy and he's a veteran in SL (i.e. at least eight or nine years). Just being there felt good.
Nad Gough doesn't do a virtuoso set as that's not what he paints. It's a gentle vibe to wrap around you ... while the venue generally explodes. Regrettably, the guitarist in front of me exploded as well. It's music; there are risks.
Nad wrote the driving software for the particle displays and Woodstock Burleigh was running them. The result is spectacular and is exceptional even for the virtual world. Most venue owners will tie you down and beat you with kettles if you use particles but that's definitely not the case at Moondance and it was glorious to behold.
It was also special to see Ticious Trottier is in the thick of it as I played some of my earliest shows for her and, what do you know, she's still doing it.
Note: I wasn't really playing anything but rather Nad asked me to come up and hang with the band. No problem as then I could play with all the animations I can't possibly touch when I'm actually playing a gig. Silas even finally got a chance to do the Butt Wiggle but I'm still not sure what it did.
I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've been to an American venue since Bibi started the trash talk. Everyone was very nice and this is not just another venue as the ones with history are special.
There are deep misgivings about playing anywhere and I haven't played here in the Rockhouse for at least a week but Moondance would be a good place for it.
