The first hurdle is getting video transmitted live to YouTube and seeing it echoed back. That was successful and that's the biggest thing to accomplish, everything is tuning after that.
There were substantial problems with audio feedback using the built-in microphone as source. The next test will use an external Sennheiser mike and there is much better ability to control feedback that way.
Note: I will not use headphones because there is nothing less live.
The video quality defaulted to 240p which is probably equivalent to the image of the old French porno postcards. Sure, it looks like a woman, maybe, and she might even be naked, maybe. The next test would be better at 1080p as the access speed here should support it.
Video is buffered to YouTube and then plays when it gets far enough ahead. What this means to you is don't watch it and don't listen to it. These are the same rules as Second Life. If you try to monitor your audio stream while you play live in SL, you will be immediately screwed as that signal online is about thirty seconds behind you. So it is with live video streaming. So there needs to be a few minutes ahead of time to validate connectivity, etc and then don't watch it on YouTube after that. Instead do all monitoring via Wirecast (or suitable analog).
There has been no extended gamesmanship with video as it would be novel to connect another camera via USB because it appears the software offers the capability for real-time switching. We have never had that one before here at the Rockhouse because it was too expensive but it seems it may be free.
There was also nothing extended with audio as the next purpose in audio is to pull the Skype feed into it. This is where it's crucial the caller must not be listening to the show or it will feedback like a wet cat fight. The thirty-second lag is the reason for it as Reverend Silas will be thirty seconds ahead of the show as will anyone talking to me. If you try to listen to both then your ears explode and so will everyone else's ears from the feedback.
Note: this is not a delay for censorship as it is nothing more than a propagation delay. There will be no editing of content although I will hang up on anyone being hateful.
The solution is to Audio Hijack the audio and feed it into Wirecast that way. It permits audio capture from multiple sources simultaneously and that will be quickly resolved. Whether I want to permit that type of call will not be so quickly resolved. It would add a whole lot of humanity but a whole lot of risk.
(Ed: does this mean it's possible for real-time Silas music video on a free stream?)
At this time it does not but it could. The music couldn't be more discouraged just now if the Galaxy Guitar told me she loves someone else more.
Mixing the music with Sasquatch runs the risk of making it look like an Ed Sullivan white boy spiritual soulfest and that's more bullshit than the world will ever need. I don't see those mixing unless I put on Tammy Faye eye make-up before I do it.
Note: I might.
