Richard Price, Trumpeter in Rhode Island w/Pic

Ronald Correia is a friend of mine and I've known him long enough to remember when he returned from a trip to Alaska with photographs of bears ... except the bears were so tiny they looked like mice.  He resolved to become a photographer and one of the challenges he set for himself has been to shoot a photograph per day.  If you think that's an easy thing, guess again.  As with any art, there's a tremendous discipline required and he has been delivering on the promise of a photograph per day for quite some time.

This article is more than simply to show you a photograph.  Don't miss the description to discover who this man is!

You can see more of Ronald Correia's work at Smugmug and he has a tremendous variety out there.

Here is his description of how today went:

For today's photo, I decided to head downcity for some street photography. While driving down Water Street, I noticed this gentleman playing a trumpet on the empty sidewalk. He introduced himself as Ritchee Price and said he practices his trumpet there almost everyday. It's his time to relax and meditate. He handed me his card and asked if I'd mind sending him a copy of the photo.

While preparing for this upload, I decided to see if there was any biographical information online about Mr. Price. It turns out, the gentleman has had an amazing career in music! He was the lead trumpeter and soloist with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra, and has played in the Count Basie Orchestra. He's also performed with The Temptations, and has played at the White House, Radio City Music Hall, and Carnegie Hall. In 2005, he was voted Soloist of the Year and was inducted into the Bugler's Hall of Fame.

Post processing today started with a warm tone filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, boost black, and boost white. In PSE I applied a very slight levels adjustment.
