"Hammerhead" (poem)

Cat asked if I knew a Hammerhead is a variety of shark.  I did but her question got me re-thinking the lyrics for my new song.  A Hammerhead is a very dangerous shark but not if you treat it with respect.  If regarded from a safe distance you will discover it's a graceful and beautiful creature.  Many admire the beauty of tigers even though they're incredibly dangerous and yet many people also revile sharks who do exactly the same job in the ocean.

Update 1:  So now it's not only a poem but a song as it was recorded a few minutes ago.  I like how these lyrics work much better than the previous words.

Update 2:  Apparently the lyrics are not finished as I re-arranged the song and now it needs a third set of words (laughs).

Update 3:  So now the third set of words are recorded.  Ha!

(Intro)

Hammerhead
you're a beauty of the deep
Hammerhead
your life we want to keep

Like a tiger in the jungle
with his eyes burning bright
sharks swim the seas
and some say they have no right

Chinese kill these sharks
then take their fins as food
They pose in such elegance
but couldn't be more crude

(Middle)

Hammerhead
you only kill from need
Hammerhead
you never kill from greed

It's a dangerous thing
to swim with you alone
but what do they expect
when they go into your home

Every creature has its home
You can't make the ocean safe
by killing every creature
that you can take its place.

(Outtro)

Hammerhead
you're a beauty of the deep
Hammerhead
your life we want to keep

We're a constant threat
and you're right to mistrust
We're more danger to you
than you are to us

You're a warrior in motion
as you roam the mighty seas
Here's the hope you survive
this arrogant breed.
