WHITE SETTLEMENT CLOSED is blinking on a highway sign such that all motorists passing by will see it. There is another one a couple of blocks beyond to emphasize the importance of the message.
The first thought may be, "About damn time."
It may be but Texans think it's funny. White Settlement is a community within Fort Worth and it amuses Texans that it still exists and not so much to preserve racism but rather to flip off Washington to tell them you can't tell me what to do.
Nevertheless, the name is just about as blazing racist as you could get.
Texans are not being disingenuous when they say they're not racist as a good many really don't see it. The above is a relatively benign example of that.
I'm clear the Aryan Brotherhood started down here and they may be the most dangerous racists of all as much of their growth is through the prison system.

She said there were Russian bears in side the door. I asked what kind of Russian is named Angilo? Shouldn't it be Angilovski or something.
There were misgivings as I didn't like the idea of the bear and my thinking about people who kill for fun has not changed. What I discovered inside was a horror way beyond a stuffed bear that may have been in the family for ages as what do you do to get rid of an antique stuffed bear. Craig's List?
Dead Bear - Stuffed but does not smell - $1000 OBO
There were stuffed animal heads all over the place and I didn't realize it before we ordered some sandwiches ... which were exceptionally delicious. I looked around the place and saw in a different area there were animal heads all over. They even had a Deerhunter Special and one small section of wall had five deer heads on it. The design goal apparently was to balance the five pronghorn sheep on the opposing wall.
Regulars know my position and killing animals for fun will never be supported.
