Telebonics, the Harbinger of the New Age

Maybe you recall how those of (cough) pure blood railed endlessly against Ebonics and its crimes against the language, humanity, and, likely, the long-term preservation of the solar system.  There is some merit to the discussion but it's pointless in the hysterical environment they created so this one ended up in the category of well, that's unusual, isn't it.

The same people who said the world would end as a result of Ebonics have taken to Telebonics with their texting and that language makes Ebonics look like something Shakespeare, all the poets, and maybe even the authors of the Gospels would have used.

Ordinarily this might be regarded as trivial ... until you look for evidence anyone reads.  The CNN web site is the most appalling of all as there's likely nothing on the site written beyond the level of junior high school comprehension.  Even more appalling is that most of the content is video which is the bar none slowest way to present any kind of information.  Since people seem to find that preferable, it indicates a fundamental inability to read as reading will always be at least three or four times faster than watching some blondie bimbo reading a teleprompter.

People often accuse the government, Mole People, or a secret underground conspiracy for 'dumbing down' America but the biggest cause I see is the technology.  Ebonics was bad ... until you do it with a cellphone ... now it's smart.

Of course, I see the logic.

Thus far I've never heard of a book causing car crashes which killed multiple people ... or any people, for that matter.  I suppose it could happen if someone actually hit the driver with a book.  In the thousands of years of recorded human history, tho, it has never happened.
