How to Accelerate the Yosemite 10.10.3 / iMac Testing

The approach to the problem thus far has been as Republican as possible insofar as it proceeds conservatively and with appropriate caution.  It's also Eisenhower conservatism as there hasn't been one even approaching his caliber since his administration.

However, the pace of a conservative is not at all satisfactory as there's one problem with conservatives:  they haven't come up with an original idea in decades, well, since Eisenhower.  It's always the same themes of bashing queers, starting wars, and singing of the Divinity of Trickledown.  Even Taylor Swift isn't as hackneyed as that entire party and it amuses me that they like her when there's almost nothing else in music that moves them.

Therefore, it's important to turn this campaign into a political challenge.  Continuing by the conservative book means to adhere rigidly to the one component per day for testing.  That will satisfy Republicans because they don't want to change anything anyway but we need a wee bit more action than that.

If it's really a political challenge, some nitwit from the Tea Party will show up and start beating my hand any time I try to change anything.  They amuse me with their stupid antics but the GOP must hate them like biting insects.

The thinking is external hardware has a low probability of being the problem source and has the huge advantage of being easy to back-out if there's a problem.  Therefore the new and improved plan is to bring all devices except disk online at once.  If there's to be a crash from it then it will come quickly.  Should that happen, pull the USB hub and then test each device individually.  None of them will add software so a back-out only takes seconds.

USB 2.0 Devices:

Mixer - Everything related to music comes into the iMac only over a single USB port

Headset for Skype - The headset is Skype and Skype is Cat

CD drive (USB 2.0)

Canon camera (single shot)

SD card reader (now retired as iMac has a port for SD cards)

USB 3.0 Devices:

Western Digital 4TB disk drive (new)

Lacie disk drive (3TB) (old) - also has a Firewire 800 port which will not be used any longer.

It's highly likely the USB 2.0 devices will be brought up at once, saving me five days if I do it this afternoon ... and I almost certainly will.

The WD disk drive would be a good pick for tomorrow morning and, with those in-place, all the cows are back in the barn.  Of all the devices, the disk drive has, in my judgment, the most potential for troubles although I also judge the potential to be low.  We shall see.
