Rosberg is Handed the Win in the Monaco GP

Lotho was deeply troubled by the way the Formula 1 race was handled for the Grand Prix of Monaco.

It wasn't possible to view the race myself but I read of it and how the win was handed to Rosberg by what was called a poor pit strategy by Mercedes.  That bad call on bringing Hamilton in the pits cost him the win and it also cost him second place as Vettel went past him as well.

Lotho was calling it a 'fix' and maybe he's right but I'd prefer to go with mismanagement on this one.  Sometimes people chalk up stuff like that to, well, that's racing.  I disagree as a screw-up remains the same in whichever arena it happens.

For me, that's racing means the last ten laps of the race as Lotho mentioned yesterday.  That's when only the best of the best can play and, man, those cats can dance ... at over 200 mph.  This is often where NASCAR excels as Formula 1 is usually decided in the pits and there's not a lot of on-track drama.  The drama exists but it's not such a spectacle.  Perhaps you will see three or four cars dicing and that's often the best part of an F1 race.  It's something which doesn't typically happen with the front-runners as you'll often see this back a little bit in the pack.

However, in NASCAR, you may well have ten cars in a position to take the win after the last ten laps and that will afford the finest kind of automotive dicing you may see anywhere.

Note:  if you have never attended a NASCAR race, take some earplugs for your own protection.  I ga-ron-tee you will not believe the level of noise.

F1 has been reduced to a game of follow the leader. Qualifying is everything The best racing in F1 is for positions 5 to 10 but is never shown
The best thing that can happen to F1 is the demise of Eccelstone
Attendance is way down as is viewership but that is true for most racing more so for f1 the loss of the german gp this year was obscene
Only Mexico looks to be a sell out that is probably since they havent been there in 15 or 20 years
Formula E has better racing and a car change pit stop
And the full course yellow for F1 is BS

Maybe Vettel showed it better than anyone else as it was always follow the leader with him. As soon as he switches to another team, we see his skills are excellent but not so exceptional he deserved to win every race.

Maybe the same thing happens with Penske / Gnassis as I think they fielded nine cars at Indy and all driving tremendous machines. When such a power differential exists, there's not a lot other teams can do about it as they just can't afford it.

For pure, bumper-to-bumper, very high speed racing, there's still nothing that tops, for me, the last ten laps at, say, Talladega. Well, or any of them although I'm not such a fan of short track racing.
