"Drive-Through in Palo Duro Canyon, Texas" (video)

Palo Duro Canyon was the home of a tribe of Apache and later the Comanche and Kiowa.  It was a place where they could almost disappear as you would never even guess the Canyon is there until you're right on top of it.  As you approach it appears the land is flat in every direction until it suddenly drops down into Palo Duro.

The video was shot driving through there in my truck and the music is my own.  I'm uploading it because my friend, Fritz Mayr, feels a very strong connection to American Indians and he makes very beautiful music on that theme.  I would be happy to remove mine to replace it with his as I love collaboration.  I don't know if he would want do do that but I do know he is interested in seeing it so herewith the video!

Unfortunately, the story of Palo Duro Canyon winds up with one of the most shameful things the US Army ever did as they fought the Comanche and Kiowa tribes in a way no real warriors ever would:  they killed their horses and other livestock, destroyed their fields, and then left them there to starve.  While this despicable act is how it ended, the lives the Indians led before that time are the real story.  Palo Duro Canyon is a place of peace and incredible beauty and the spirits of the Apache, Comanche, and Kiowa are still there.  I suspect they will always be there.  (Wiki:  Palo Duro Canyon)
