Like Sears and other signature stores of America, Radio Shack is near death. To many that doesn't mean much but it was Paradise for geeks as any ridiculous electronic thing you ever wanted was in there somewhere. Even if no-one else had it, Radio Shack would.
I suspect they didn't keep up well enough. They should have had lots of gizmos for building drones, robots, and all that kind of stuff but it seemed the got caught up in trying to sell Samsung cellphones and common junk of that nature. Radio Shack's business was never in selling the stuff you can get anywhere else and you can get Samsung cellphones at Wal-Mart.
Regardless of what mistakes they made, it's a damn shame to see it happen as I've regretted multiple times that there is no convenient Radio Shack here and that's an ultra-bitch in Fort Worth as this city is the Radio Shack headquarters. For example, I wanted a geeky little bit to use to stick two Internet cables together to make a longer one. Radio Shack was perfect for stuff like that as two minutes in and out and you're done. It's true you can get the same thing online ... but that was after I finally found one on Amazon, paid to have it shipped, etc, etc.
Yep, this sucks, Radio Shack will be missed and Sears is already missed. Neither is completely dead yet but they might as well be. Damn shame.
