Continuing iMac Pre-Launch Evaluation

There's still a question of whether there really is enough to do it so a bit of tension comes from that but no so much on selling it before I can even ask as there are multiple offerings of this model, the difference is in the configuration options.  For example, there's one with 24 GB and that's very nice but it doesn't have the hotrod video card.  Others have the bugged AMD video card and why should I deal with that if the price is right on a different one.

Judging by the number available, these are likely people who moved up to the iMac 5K.  It's about $500 US more than the non-5K model but it would likely do a peach of a job playing a movie for you.

This is the standard model for saving money on computers and it's the same for cars:  get last year's model and buy it used.  That way it will usually have the custom goodies and you'll get them for close to free.  The model is being followed precisely as there can't be any error.  I can't turn around later and tell the People of the Future, hey, I made a tiny mistake here and, well, ... no, this cannot happen.

The biggest problem, from my view, is covering one of the People of the Future who made the big jump as that's a lot of money and the whole point of this was that no-one would be asked for a big bite like that.

The plan now is to kill the Help a Jammer campaign as it's connected to the wrong Facebook account and the campaign will evaporate if Facebook kills the account, something they do mercilessly.  They've even eliminated native American accounts because they did not think the names sounded 'legitimate.'  wtf is legitimate.

The turnaround is to open another GoFundMe only this time connected correctly and this time as the Silas Scarborough Tipjar.  If you like what I do, chuck a fiver in there once in a while and everything is groovy.  The house takes 10% and no hassle anywhere for anyone.  In parallel, I won't charge for a gig anywhere nor will I ask for tips.  I will tell people if they want to throw tips then please use GoFundMe sometime but otherwise everything goes to the venue.  The same applies with YouTube and the podcast as the same idea works all 'round.

Maybe that sounds crazy and getting a tip for $1000L looks spectacular ... but it's still $5.00 US, likely the least anyone would send on GoFundMe.  Even with the house taking 10% and people not doing it as much, it could still could be arithmetically valid (i.e. more jingle in yer pocket).

Note:  GoFundMe has different categories.  You are specifically not competing with some kid who desperately needs medical help or so.

Tips to the venue must be in Lindens as the venue owner is giving tips, paying performers to play, etc.  It costs a lot to run a venue and the owner can't be going back and forth converting currencies as someone gets a piece of it every time you do it.  Doing things this way could very well result in more Lindens for the venue and not at an expense of reduced income for the performer.  I don't know if that will work but I do know I will try it.

This is all wrapping an extended What Could Go Wrong phase and things are a bit tense just now but that's ok.

There is zero sales tax and ground shipping is $50.  Sales tax with Apple would have been about $200 and free shipping.  Well ...  (Overnight or close is an extra $100 or so.  Screw that as Oregon isn't that far.)

Everything says do it.  If this works out then it will be in motion in about an hour.
