There was a request, based on "Evolution of Eohippus," to take a look at a blog entitled, "Why Believe in Jesus" by The Button Mushroom. (The evolution of the horse is interesting for a great many reasons but the most important of which to evolutionary biologists is a fossil record that's nearly complete back to an animal the size of a chipmunk.)
At first I groaned at the request as I am so tired of illiterate Fox News Christians who don't know the material and couldn't be bothered to learn it. You know the crowd: the Bible said it, I believe it, that settles it. Yah, those ones.
As to 'why believe in Jesus,' there's plenty of reason to believe he really lived so a more appropriate question, in my view, is why not believe in Jesus. The actual question is whether you believe he was resurrected and I leave that one for you to answer as it doesn't matter what I believe.
So, I read the article anyway and the blog is written by someone who is obviously a Christian but he hasn't let a fear of science get the better of him. His article is reasoned and he has a number of references for further reading for anyone who is interested. (Musing About Christianity: Why Believe in Jesus)
I don't recommend for or against reading the article any more than I do regarding mine on Eohippus. If you have questions on such things then these references may be useful but the most important point to both of them is to consider everything. There's no need for conflict over religion and science as both are part of the same thing.
