Michi Renoir played last night at Cat's Art MusikCircus with a theme of 'Make Love Not War' and, as has been his way for quite a few shows now, he improvised on that theme for the entire set.
Michi ranged from lush flowing chords with an intricate piano melody to segments with something of a march beat with a martial feel to theme. In a fascinating series of changes, his music evolves to a much larger work that captivates for the entire performance.
There is a much larger theme to Michi's performance in the global sense regarding the overall stupidity of war and this is something Cat Boucher has supported for many years through her venue and her request for support of War Child, an organisation that seeks to help children who have been hurt by war and to prevent them from being used as combatants.
The theme also applies to Second Life and the stupidity of war in that context defies description.
It was a beautiful show and, once again, Michi Renoir outdid himself.
And Cat and I ...
watched Eve up on the trapeze!
Where else can you see a musical performance from this vantage point!
In the next show, Reis and Aldo came out for yet another brilliant performance from Italy.
It's marvelous how the voice of Reis Alter integrates with the synthesizer compositions of Aldo Brizzi as it's always a wonderment how this can possibly work and yet it's perfectly natural the moment one hears it. There is no wonder that there is such a demand for their work in the real world such that they have not so much time to perform in Second Life but always they come back to Cat's Art MusikCircus.
The beauty and originality of Reis Alter's voice is something you really need to hear as it's at once sexy and sensual while it's also ethereal and magical. I've never heard a singer like her and her voice is always transporting to a place far beyond this one.
Through it all, Aldo Brizzi's compositions (aldobrizzi.net) build a foundation that is at times something one might expect in an otherworldly jungle and yet at others has the deep drive of something that comes from all the way downtown in some ultra-modern world.
Reis always wears a marvelous outfit for her performances and she outdid herself for this one. At the same time, Aldo always wears a suit with a tie. They are quite a remarkable couple!
And Cat and I ...
watched the whole MusikCircus dance!
From left to right: Julie Juliesse, Medora Chevalier, Janeel Kharg, Michi Renoir, Cat Boucher, Silas Scarborough, Mania Muircastle, anakin Muircastle (there are some other couples in the distance but it's tough to tell who they are)
From left to right: Riana Magic, Mel, the Fabulous Karli, Apmel Goosson, Julie Juliesse, Cat Boucher, Silas Scarborough, Raven Freeman, Rodo, Cip Quan, Mireille Jenvieve-Woodford.
There was a tremendous turnout for the show and the obvious thought is, hey, let's have a boycott more often! Julie suggested having a Gay Night for people to come to show the absurdity of charges of homophobia and/or a Transgender Night for people to show the absurdity of that charge as well. While the idea is funny, Cat doesn't believe in limiting the audiences anymore than she believes in limiting the performers. Gay people come to performances all the time but there's never any note about it because it's Europe and here it's recognised that some people are gay and there's no reason to note whether someone is or is not.
And of course Cat and I danced!
How about that move, huh!
This might have been about when Julie said I look like John Travolta. Yah, and that might be why Cat and I went out looking for clothes after the show! She looked fantastic but this John Travolta stuff has got to go!
