Yoshiki was a member of X Japan which may well be my all-time favorite rock band for inventiveness, power, and a damn cool sound. In this video he conducts the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra as they perform his own piece, "Seize the Light." There hasn't been this kind of brilliance since the composers of the 17th and 18th centuries.

Yoshiki is playing the piano or the drums. Brilliant does not go far enough! He also writes some, maybe all, of their music.
