It was a sweet Spring day in May
but things were not so good.
The woman had her problem,
things weren't working as they should.
She studied every angle
but wasn't getting anywhere
No chance she'd ask for help
and she slumped back in her chair.
Just then a man approached her,
dressed in leather head to foot.
On his coat it said Hell's Angels
and he had come to take a look.
His hair was long but tidy,
his beard was long but trimmed,
his eyes shone blue in sunlight
and her fear quickly dimmed.
He asked what's the trouble
with a friendly tone of voice
You haven't asked for any help
but you do have a choice.
She said this bicycle is broken
and I can't get it to work
I've tried and cannot fix it
and my son will be so hurt.
He looked for just a moment
he said I'll take this if I may
then he took it to his arm
and turned to walk away.
He went into the house next-door,
and disappeared inside
She couldn't think what he might do there
with that tiny little ride.
My God, what just happened
Hell's Angels don't ride toys
This was just a bicycle,
made for little boys.
In not so long she saw him
the bike held his hand
He came back then to see her
and put the bike down on its stand.
He said you'll find it works now
It really wasn't all that hard
It's my pleasure that I do this
and of course there is no charge.
In trade I ask for nothing
I'm a friend and that is all
I like to make kids happy
if you need more help just call.
In months to come she saw him
and he seemed a wealthy man.
He had a richness in his spirit
and wore gold upon his hands.
They never took to dating
he was not that kind of friend
but in time she moved away
and their friendship had to end.
Years later she was reading
a magazine proclaimed
Hell's Angels have been busted
and all of them are named.
She saw his face among them
and was shocked at all his crimes
He was the worst kind of bad guy
and for this he would do time.
He was selling drugs all over
he used his girlfriend for these deeds
but when they came to parting
she would no longer serve his needs.
He told her to be silent
You won't say a word
If you talk to the police
it will be the last that's ever heard.
He beat her into silence
He bruised her up and down
and no matter where she went
he would follow her around.
All she wanted was her freedom
and for that she would take death
as he hounded her all over
and she couldn't take a step.
She stepped into a fire
She just wanted him away
and if death would give her peace
then she chose it for today.
She lived but was so injured
and that's when she would talk.
There was no more harm to threaten
and the police took him to court.
As she read she saw her child
he was riding just outside
That bicycle is still working
and sun still sweetly shines.
