Extraordinary Splendiferousness at the MusikCircus Last Night

What the hell does 'splendiferous' mean.  Well, that's a word that means exactly how it sounds!  If I ever use 'iconic' to describe anything, please feel free to shoot me.

Michi Renoir did not do the all-out jam show of the previous week and instead did his interpretation of Stockhausen.

While wearing a cowboy hat for Stockhausen might seem a little unusual anywhere else, this is the MusikCircus and it goes however you want.

I was a bit disappointed and leery of what might come when I heard Michi Renoir would not be doing a show like the one he did last week but, like I said, this is the MusikCircus where the performers are never told what to play.  What came was an extraordinary performance which went at times to atonal and then back at others to quite beautiful melodies.  The performance was highly-dramatic and very powerful.

Note that drama is not a bad thing, it's melodrama that's the stock in trade for 'drama queens,' etc.  Drama is a quite excellent thing and I definitely mean it as a compliment in describing Michi's performance.

As to what I personally prefer, I don't think it really matters all that much as what matters in this reporting is what you prefer.  For you to decide on whether you want to come to a show, I need to report accurately what I heard so you can make up your own mind.

However, don't expect Michi to be playing Stockhausen again next week as he said he will do a dance show for that one.  OK, so we go with it.  This is the MusikCircus!

For the second hour, Reis and Aldo returned and their show is tough to describe as it is consistently amazing.  With Reis' magical voice and Aldo driving it with polyrhythmic percussion and fascinating synthesizer work, every song is a wonderful journey.

The journey is at times extraordinary:

And at other times it is fantastic!

Aldo said last night that the MusikCircus is the only place they are currently playing within Second Life.   He and Reis have such incredible talents that they can play pretty much anywhere in or out of Second Life but the MusikCircus is what they choose and he said that was because people really listen to what they play.  That might seem obvious for a music performance but actually it isn't at all.  People listen with high fascination to their music as you really don't want to miss anything.

At times listening to them is like flying over some incredible city of the future and at others it is like flying over Mayan temples in the jungles of South America but always it flies with Reis' voice and powered by the extraordinary synthesizer work of Aldo.  He is an incredible composer and he has worked with quite a number of musicians.  You can learn more at the Aldo Brizzi Web site.

And of course Cat and I danced!

When flying over the jungle, there is one multi-colored bird I see and she is right in front of me!
