High positive B52s are being sent for operations in Middle East and they don't do anything but carpet bombing or dropping monster big ones. Either way, it can't help but waste a whole lot of civilians.

Highly skeptical as my maths here say bigger bombs means more deaders, regardless of accuracy. Otherwise why do it unless you blow up unused infrastructure or some such.
Deaders dont mean innocents. Watch some of the bombing footage from the 1st Iraq war where the knock out single buildings and leave the structure on either side.
But that is not my point It is that carpet bombing is illegal
I do get it that carpet bombing is illegal but my contention is with the big ass bombs a B-52 will be dropping it's effectively carpet bombing because of the widespread boom. It seems inevitable there will be collateral damage. I've seen the precision bombing but I also believe we only see the ones which worked perfectly and there is little mention of general efficacy / accuracy of the weapon.
