People speak in beatific reverence of the peace and idyllic solitude one can find while walking in a forest but they leave out anything that dies in the forest ... will be eaten by the forest. Think that through as the floor of the forest is a colossal eating machine which feeds back to the canopy that which has fallen. It endlessly recycles itself needing only minerals from the ground and light and water for fuel and fluid.
Everything they say is true and nothing can touch how special it feels to cross a brook in a forest by following the stepping stones while the water babbles around you, the light sparkles as the water splashes, and the trees tower above. There's a blissful silence except for periodic sounds of the animals in the forest as they watch you but you can't see them and there's a radiant energy of life from every direction.
Something which radiates in unexpected ways is any of a large variety of Stinging Trees in Australia. (WIKI: Dendrocnide)
This is not a peek-a-boo story about a rare specimen one may, once in a hundred years, observe in Australia's Northern Territory. Noooo, the Stinging Trees are comprised of almost forty different species. Some marvel at the Corpse Plant with its hideous 'perfume' which reminds of death and rotting cabbage. Clever stunt, sure enough ... but the Stinging Trees can make YOU a corpse. The pain is so severe that at least one man is documented to have committed suicide to be over with it.
As far as I have seen so far, Dendrocnide moroides or the gympie gympie is the most deadly plant in the world which shows any kind of aggressive activity toward other creatures. There are many which are poisonous to consume but not so many which will nail you for having the temerity to even approach them. Bringing, no doubt, great happiness to Australians, most or all of the Stinging Trees live in Oz. (WIKI: Dendrocnide moroides)
D. moroides is covered in tiny fibers and they deliver a powerful neurotoxin, so powerful it will kill sheep and horses. It's even been observed that horses will jump off cliffs from the pain. An Australian policeman is reported to have shot himself to be rid of the agony.
However, no matter how deadly you may seem to be, God shows all of his sense of humor in that there is always something that can eat you. For all the fearsomeness of the gympie gympie, there are some animals of the forest that can eat it like a head of lettuce.
Yes, it's a bit heavy-handed (shrug).
