"Tyrone" | Tula and Roberto Luti | Playing For Change | Live Outside

You say you like the slide guitar?  Robert Luti will bring it to you.

Playing for Change comes up constantly at the Rockhouse and obviously I love the band but the global aspect brings a dimension which was never there before.  We've been hearing about world music for years but often it was someone's idea of it with others as incidentals.  With Playing for Change, the global aspect of the music is the star and all of the performers, a good many of whom are stars in their own rights, serve that noble master.

It's with near reverence I hear the music from this band which brings it to me the way people really are, freely making music together from all around the world, rather than the way we're always told.  There is no nationalism; there is only music.

Music won't just soothe the savage beast, it will soothe any beast.

This video from our Live Outside series features Tula and Roberto Luti performing Erykah Badu’s classic, “Tyrone”, with help from PFC Band members Titi Tsira and Clarence Bekker. We recorded this song on the side of the road en route to perform at Byron Bay Blues Festival in Australia in 2014. It takes a long time to uncover the talent and repertoire of the PFC band members, who come from 10 different countries. This “Live Outside” series gives us all a front row seat on this musical journey that is Playing For Change!! Stop and listen to the music and carry this love with you everywhere you go…
