"Won't Get Fooled Again" | Live at Kilburn (1977) | The Who

Some of us never were fooled again and some of you ol' dawgies were seeing them live about this time ... multiple times.

Hat tip to Keith Moon

This was before that bullshit keyboard intro dominated and which has been programmed into every nickel ninety-five synth since.

Cadillac Man and I have talked about how we won't get fooled again and he didn't either but a whole lot of people did.

Ed:  the Neos never experienced this

There were also Oldos who never knew of it in the first place and almost all of them are in Washington.

Ed:  it's the job of the pols to be foolin'

but it's not our task to be droolin'
we've heard the song before
and we'll walk right out the door

when they start foolin' us again
and try to say they're friends
when they start foolin' us again
and try to say they're friends

We have a higher standard
and the music says it all
since there are no lies in music
just in the way it's sometimes used

but the musician didn't do that
and the music gets abused
when it turns up in car commercials
and it's only being used

Writing hateful to be clever
is sometimes a tool of the foul
but that has nothing to do with music
so much as the way they cower
behind ancient guns and weaponry
they think they offer surprise
but the only call for any of that
is when you're telling lies

We won't get fooled again
we've heard it all before
and don't you ever try it
since you'll only hear the door

- Some asshole
