When Saint George happened by the lake, this was his Man Friday who walked by his horse as Saint George rode.
The device Man Friday is carrying is something Saint George invented for help when he was killing dragons. Man Friday was to run up to the dragon and grab one of the dragon's family jewels in the device and then squeeze it while Saint George stabbed it with his sword.
That worked out ok for Saint George but not so much for Man Friday since he wound up in too many pieces to readily identify.
And so was Saint George's Dragon Family Jewel Grabber lost to science except this one ancient photograph.

It's a miracle; roll with it. Just be thankful you didn't have to do it.
