There is no interest in nostalgia with Ellen Degeneres but rather in being funny and you see the inspiration for her in the laff riot her father brought with his practical jokes.
In retrospect, multiple things make the future obvious. I don't recall at the time considering if she is gay but rather is she funny.
Degeneres has a clever delivery with sufficient twistedness to keep it interesting.
I can't say I have much interest in her yak yak show but she did give us some great stand-up.
