"The Girl Who Would Be Lavender" (poem)

This is one of the songs from the Boudika play:
(links for the music for this poem are in another article)

The girl who would be lavender
had flowers in her hair
You couldn't really see her
but she was everywhere.
In dew of early morning
In last quiet of the night
You revel in her kisses
in lavender's delight.

In days that were much shorter,
in nights that knew no end,
She cast about for freedom
fighting gales that they'd send.
In never-ending tumult,
she'd battle those who came
No winners and no losers
It all came out the same.

The battle lost this day
All returned to castle keep
But the girl who would be lavender
Just lay her head to sleep
In dreams she felt the flowers
Enwrapped, she felt she'd fly
The girl who would be lavender
sings softly passing by.

The girl who would be lavender
had flowers in her hair
You couldn't really see her
but she was everywhere.
In dew of early morning
In last quiet of the night
You revel in her kisses
in lavender's delight.
