Riding down to Katakolo Beach with a special Valentine's Day purpose in mind. On the ride back, "I Love Rats" kicks up and that takes it all the way home. To discover the purpose on the beach you will need to watch the video! Part of the commentary is auf Deutsch and part is in English.
There is a sand artist in Australia who may understand music better than some musicians as part of his art is the knowledge that no matter how beautiful he makes each work it will still get washed away with the next tide. So it is with music as I don't believe it was ever meant to be preserved. You play a note and, as soon as it is finished reverberating, it disappears and that's what it is supposed to do. Recording it means that something which was supposed to disappear instead stays the same forever while the truth is that no piece of music, no matter how simple, is played exactly the same way twice. Music is meant to be washed away with the tide and that is a large part of the beauty of it.
