Happy Carnival from Michi Renoir and Aldo Brizzi

There was a celebration of Carnival last night at Cat Boucher's Art MusikCircus and Michi Renoir opened it.  I don't mean to write about acts week after week as that wouldn't serve any good purpose and possibly might even alienate you to them but Michi really outdid himself last night.

Michi Renoir got off to a rough start with some technical problems but he stayed with it and he started into his set with rockets going off into the air.  This was quite a change as last week his set was very beautiful but he was more focused on romance and his songs were fairly sedate.  Not so this week and he was kicking it up from the first note with super-fat synth sounds and his characteristically-beautiful piano.  He really outdid himself and I hope he keeps this type of set going!

Reis and Aldo were the second act of the night and we were welcoming them back to the Circus after they had spent a month in Brazil where they opened for the real-life Carnival.  If you check out the Web page for Cat's Art MusikCircus, you can look at the Artist Profile for Reis and Aldo which has a video of them performing at Montreux!  Don't think for a moment that all Second Life performers are musical amateurs as it's just not true.

Unfortunately, Reis came down with a migraine and could not perform but Aldo Brizzi is a magnificent synthesizer artist and he came in to do the Carnival show by himself.  Everyone sent their best wishes to Reis as we all missed her performance but all wanted to wish her a quick recovery.  She will be back next week!

The thing that sets off Aldo Brizzi's synthesizer work the most is that he arranges incredible percussion.  How he does it is your guess as I don't know either but he makes it thunderous!  Last night he was using all kinds of Carnival rhythms and the set was outstanding.  Aldo is a marvelous composer and he has worked with some quite incredible musicians.  You can learn more about Aldo Brizzi on his Web page.

Last night was also the time for the Cat's Cool Carnival Costume Contest in which there was a $500L prize for the best costume of the evening.  Since this time of year is Carnival and it is also Mardi Gras, there were some magnificent outfits and here are the best ones:

Riana Magic

Pyrrhic

Blondivory Helendale

Medora Chevalier

Southern Riptide

Everyone dresses up as well as possible anyway in Second Life but these ladies were really shining last night!

However, there was a problem with the voting machine and it wasn't because the GOP broke it to manipulate the vote in Florida, the damn thing just didn't work.  It was wearing Cat right out as she had just been through two days of computer hell and she had been so much looking forward to this evening so really did NOT need any more flak from software.  This was the time for the Tiger to step into it and I told her I would handle the vote myself.  That went very well and, yes, of course I'm dragging it out so you can consider who the winner might have been!

I won't tell you who voted for whom but I will tell you this much:  the winner did NOT vote for herself.

At the end of Aldo's set, I gave him the result of the voting and he announced it from the stage.

And the winner was ... tick ... tick ... tick ...

Southern Riptide!  Congratulations to her on what is more than likely the most spectacular outfit I have ever seen in Second Life!

And, yes, of course Cat wore a Carnival outfit too ... and we danced:

There are many venues in Second Life but none like Cat's Art MusikCircus!
