Anoushka Shankar is the daughter of Ravi Shankar and "Pancham Se Gara" is music she performed with accompaniment on tabla and tanpura. The video cannot be embedded in the blog by her request but it is a beautiful piece of work and it's intriguing to me in part because her musical choices are quite different from those of her half-sister, Norah Jones. Part of the fascination with sitar is that the musician cannot see much of the instrument, every note is reached through knowledge and intuition rather than sneaking peeks at the fretboard to look for the dots as with a guitar.
