May 4 is Kent State Day, the Day America Turned the Guns on the Unarmed People

Richard Nixon was King at the time.  He gave America the EPA but he also gave us this.  Cecil Rhodes was the thug Republican governor in Ohio who sent the National Guard to Kent State.

The blood of those students is on their hands forever.

You will likely hear this one a lot today and I remember when it first came out as a generation got behind doing something about it.  I was in the Army at the time and that's as on your own as it was possible to get in the Vietnam Era; everyone hated you.

The vid doesn't show the best recording of the song but it captures the anger.  This had right now immediacy when they did it.

Ed:  they still hate you!

Yep but the trick is not minding that they hate me

Ed:  you stole that from "Lawrence of Arabia" in the scene with the match

Correct again

This one is much more recent and it includes Neil Young.  He apologizes it for it being maybe a downer.  How things do change in twenty years but sure as hell not in him.
