"Erotica Psychotica" is Promoted to Greatest Hits (video)

My previous analysis that it's 'riddled with mistakes' might have been a bit harsh and was almost entirely due to the precision needed to finesse the synth to the correct pitch.  MIDI Access is very much more unforgiving than normal play.  Nevertheless, I'm promoting it up and I would put it near number one if there were any light on the guitarist as that's such an obvious filming mistake ... but ... overall it's one of the prettiest things I ever did.  All that was known going into it was Am-G-F plus embellishments and everything else just happened because it was supposed to be that way.

Decision is Made on the Laser

Foregoing reefer means I can order the laser late Tuesday night and it will be here in four to seven days.  This will work and it will happen definitely.

The above is potentially a problem as a non-reefer situation is not acceptable.  However, waiting is also not acceptable.  50/50 this will blow up in my face but it's all about how far you're willing to lean in a corner.

"The Cat in the Space Between Things" isn't ready to record yet anyway so this timing could be excellent.  Adding the MIDI capability means the song may not stay the same anyway so that needs to be jacked around to get more clear.

There is also "The Laughing Gecko Song" but I have to take a bath before that and, hey, it's the fookin' weekend ... I should take a bath on the weekend?  This one needs to be shot in full sunlight to see the Laughing Gecko shirt.

I also need to wear down the paint on some of the Magical Purple Picks as that's not too magical if the paint is still fresh.  That would be like getting a brand-new wand from a wizard store.  How do you know it even works.  I hate it when I get a defective one.  I get home and try a few spells ... nothing.  Then I have to walk all the way back.  People think things are easy for wizards but that's crap.

Geek Alert

In "Erotica Psychotica," the beam from the blue/violet laser is fairly good and the image doesn't often burn out (i.e. over-expose).  The beams from the green lasers frequently burn out and this is due to the beam crossing the plane of the camera's 'shutter.'  The result is the beams are less distinct.  This is managed by changing the pattern the laser is programmed to repeat.  It's important as the red lasers will have the same situation.

There are three LEDs that appear only as bright white lights as they are way over-exposed.  One of those comes out to make room for the red lasers and the others are already dimmed.  The one to be removed will be used for fill light so you can see what the guitarist is doing.

The Mystery Lady would have the best sense of this as my thinking is geometrical ... pull out the middle LED and use the side LEDs for accent color rather than total global domination as they are now in the viddie.

In place of the removed LED will be two red lasers which, if aimed correctly, will be creating fields of light as the beams move.  The same applies to the greens and the blue/violet does it now.

(Ed:  why not add pink and go for tutti frutti??)

It's fair enough as why not.  The reason is these will be sufficient.  There is specific purpose as the green and blue/violet combination is good and complementary in a way I like.  Red at the same time would be startling and perhaps I want that sometimes.  Red and green in combination are useless as who needs Christmas lasers.  However, the red / blue combination is deeply magical.  So, the purpose is diversity and flexibility.  For about $150 US, I'll take it.

(Ed:  what does this have to do with music?)

More than ever after "Erotica Psychotica," I believe it's all the same continuum, just different frequencies.
