And There Was Great Joy in Italy

Ferrari is back as Vettel takes first in the Malaysian Grand Prix.

Mercedes had been unbeatable but now it looks like a race.

This makes an interesting situation for Lewis Hamilton but his race was really lost in the pits as he was having trouble with his tyres.  (He's Brit.  He uses tyres.)  That meant one more pit stop than Vettel so you still don't really know in a heads-up drag race who would take it.

One thing's for sure is that it will be fascinating to watch.  It wasn't interesting when Vettel would constantly win and many times the television coverage would be of elsewhere in the field.  Every so often they would cut back and confirm, yep, Vettel is way in front.

When he goes to Ferrari and the wins stop maybe you wonder, hey, was he just lucky and had a better car than anyone else.

But not today.

The big question for me is where was Ricciardo.  I didn't watch the race but saw an article to summarize it and he wasn't even mentioned.

Ok its Lewis He went with a 3 tire strategy and Vettel went with a 2 stop usually the fresher tires can overcome the pitstop time. It is only his second race in a Ferrari Winning stopped for almist the last two years when only Daniel won in a Red Bull car
It may be too early to agree Ferrari is back as Sepang is not tbe best track to show Mercedes power

They were saying Hamilton had lots of troubles with his second set of tyres as in they were sliding all over the place. I believe he was on mediums for that bit.

To make it perfect, Alonso should have brought it home. It's cool to see Vettel back in the game but that would have been prime to see Alonso up there.

He was on the hards The team was out of mediums. The last set went to Nico who complained about them. When the safety car came out Lewis pitted and Vettel did not. And many others stayed out with Vettel. He needed meds or softs to make up that many positions.
Vettel was also overjoyed to have lapped his old team

It's unfortunate that tactical matters determined it but still it's cool to see Ferrari up there again. Mercedes and Ferrari make the Battle of the Titans. Vettel had a good lead but the pit stop plus slowdown and speedup time probably accounted for it. If you add in Hamilton's tyre troubles, he may still have an edge over Vettel if both do the same number of stops and are running tip-top.

Mercedes will be kicking arse this season And Ferrari will be best of the rest.
