The Conflict on Facebook - Real Friends Are on There

There are real friends on Facebook, people I really know from the real world and we passed friend tests with each other a long time ago, far away from Facebook.  There is not a large number of them but that's not so important as the point is there is now no other way to reach them.  I have no phone, neither mobile nor landline, and you know as well as I email today is complete worthless crap for much more than sending weather information or copies of payment receipts.

It's a conflict as Ronald Correia is someone I've known for close to fifteen years.  He's a hard-core Republican (i.e. complete lunatic) but we talk at some depth on various of the matters of the day as he knows the material.  He knows the American history and he knows the science ... even if he does draw false conclusions from it (e.g. how hot is this climate change going to get and how fast will it get there).  He is also very well-versed in theology, not so much in ancient religions (e.g. Zoroastrianism, etc) but he is very knowledgeable regarding the pathway to Christianity, who wrote what, when it happened, etc.

That type of discussion is important to me as it's not the pretend 'debate' in which most people on Facebook engage.  Some yak incessantly out of boredom and all have the same knowledge that not one damn word of it will be remembered tomorrow.  That kind of stuff drives me completely insane.  Pressure will build up behind both ears and that will grow into one blazing headache.  That's not from Facebook as it's lifetime.

Discussion that's motivated toward knowledge is important to me whereas yak just wastes my time and there's nothing I hate more than wasted time.  Other than love, what means more to any musician than time.

These people are important as they are hard to find ... BUT ... the only way I can find them is on Facebook, something I seriously consider to be the most active threat to health and happiness in America of possibly any other source.  Republicans rip at the money but Facebook tears at the fabric and that is one hell of a lot worse.

So, it's a conflict.
