Alan,
We're still sitting in Ohio Sen. Rob Portman's office right now as part of yesterday's nationwide day of action against the morally repugnant Republican health care plan. Some of us participated in actions at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's office yesterday afternoon as well, and have spent more than 24 hours protesting.
Yesterday, Our Revolution local groups like ours, along with partners at the Working Families Party, Democratic Socialists of America, Ultraviolet, Progressive Democrats of America, #AllOfUs, Democracy Spring, ResistHere.org, and the People's Consortium for Human and Civil Rights sat in 28 Senate offices in 21 states demanding Senators vote no on the GOP health care plan. Across the country, nearly 50 people were arrested for speaking out against draconian cuts to Medicaid in order to give billions of dollars in tax breaks to the wealthiest Americans.
As a result of our collective efforts, in person and through phone calls, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell admitted he's having trouble getting the votes to pass their plan. Thanks to all of your efforts we are winning the fight to save health care for millions of people!
Our Revolution groups from Alaska to Florida, to Texas and Maine all came out to tell their Senator that health care is a human right. Groups in Columbus, Ohio and Tallahassee, Florida are also still sitting in Senate offices. These actions showed we are truly powerful when we work together.
The will of the people is on our side. With more actions like the ones we took yesterday, we can defeat the Republican health care repeal and fight for the real solution that will give health care coverage to everyone, Medicare for All.
In solidarity,
Our Revolution Greater Cincinnati
