How About a Bit of Shark Terror as You Are Still Food

The articles I've written on shark attacks in the Mediterranean Sea have received well over ten thousand hits which tells me there's a whole lot of shark terror out there.  I have my own shark terror but I don't dress like a seal and go where they are so I still have all my appendages.

Here's a guy who understands these magnificent animals and swims with them using no more than snorkel gear:

There's some very strange logic regarding wild animals as you will often hear of preserving the Bengal tigers as they're such magnificently beautiful creatures.  However, with sharks the attitude is usually to kill them maybe just to take their fins for dinner.  Australia has recently been culling them 'to keep beaches safe.'

The story of the U.S.S. Indianapolis is famous for the shark frenzy that followed but the reality is that sharks were only responsible for a portion of it and that response was inevitable given the tremendous injuries the sailors had suffered when the ship burned and sank.  (Wiki:  USS Indianapolis (CA-35))

According to survivors, sharks were primarily taking sailors who were already dead and most died from their injuries and exposure in the four days it took anyone to find them.

(Ed:  just what the hell is Christmas about this?)

The snorkeler shows it is possible to co-exist with what is ostensibly the most vicious creature on the planet through sensitivity to its actions, understanding of its reactions, and the awareness that man does not control the Earth, we only live on it.  This attitude works for just about everything and I submit it's about as Christmas as you can get.
