Western Digital - How to Disable the Sleep Timer

WD Smartware is an ineffective waste of time and, after spending some hours with this, it came that references by Western Digital to use that software to set or disable the drive sleep timer were useless. Instead WD Drive Utilities (link is for the Mac version but a Windows version exists as well) is the better choice because it has no trouble recognizing the My Book drive and the sleep timer was disabled with this software in seconds.

Case closed on this highly trivial but continuously annoying problem.

Yosemite 10.10.3 has now been running continuously for well over twenty-four hours, albeit with some restarts to try to get WD Smartware to recognize the drive.  I'm still not ready to close the case on it but the evidence supporting doing that is strengthening rapidly.
