South Carolina flies the Confederate flag and Lindsey Graham says it's 'a remembrance of part of our history' and of course he's right as who would want to forget the days of owning slaves. The Confederate flag has been a symbol of that egregiously evil time and the wholesale racism that went with it. The flag is not only regarded as a racist symbol but is frequently used as one by those who haven't quite graduated to using swastikas to expressing their contempt for humanity.
There were some joking a few days ago about whether Lindsey Graham is gay but that's irrelevant anyway, particularly when he has so little spine he would be an embarrassment to any man of any sexual persuasion. His disingenuous and mealy-mouthed word dancing accomplish the same nothing as Rick Perry's failure to address any issues of real substance.
The only one with anything solid to say on the matter of the Confederate flag was Obama when he said 'it belongs in a museum.' (RT: Confederate flag in S. Carolina ‘belongs in a museum,’ not in the air – Obama)
Perhaps I'm wrong but would it not be reasonable to expect more courage and forthrightness in candidates who may lead the country than one would expect to see in the average Campfire Girl.
Note: Republicans, predictably, have all dodged any idea of better management of guns, just as they did after all the murders at Sandy Hook, or any of the other horrors committed with guns by American civilians.

I am not a gun nut. Dont really understand the fascination of this country with them.
I do understand the need of some people to have them. My address has a mininum of a 15 minute response time for any police fire etc.
So I have to protect myself. I also have a pump set up from my pool so I can also handle a small fire.
In Austria today a crazy dude killed 2 and injured 30+ but he used a car. I guess one could counter with a gun it could have been 30 dead
Crazy people will find a way to kill
I've written multiple times I have no problem with shotguns and hunting rifles. As you say, some need them validly for protection and others need them for food ... or they need them for both.
The counter that people will find some other way to kill doesn't work that well when you consider the wholesale gun slaughter over here relative to killing anywhere else. Sure people will kill if they can but guns make it so damn convenient. Every time it happens I hear the same cop but I look around to see if it has happened anywhere else in the world since the last time ... nope.
ISIS is a specious example as that's not an individual's act of crime. Besides, much of what they do is with American weapons they stole from Iraq so, in at least that context, it's an extension of the same violence as here.

That's not entirely true as some will find a way but, based on any study I ever saw, reducing the guns will reduce the overall deaths. They make it way, way too easy. Stabbing someone is incredibly brutal but a gun only takes a simple squeeze of a trigger.
