Emmanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church is Spared a Long Search

Details of the person who did the shooting are not important except insofar as he was white and the killings were, by his own admission, racially-motivated.   Presumably he wanted to get caught as the way he did it was so stupid he might as well have left a business card.  The only good news is that cops handled it well and apparently apprehended him without incident.

My biggest concern about this type of thing is how this person got that way as there are multiple people profiting from promoting various racist agendas and they get a tremendous amount of publicity and support.  Pamela Geller is a prime example of it but she's hardly unique as Megyn Kelly wasn't even remotely funny in what she was saying about white Santa.

Kelly's pernicious undermining of an entire race of people gets applause because, after all, she was trying to be funny ... she says.  What she fails to understand at all is the racism that motivated her to say it in the first place.  That she dresses it as a joke is irrelevant as she's an intelligent woman and trying to blow it off as she did shows spinelessness more than wit.

There will inevitably be a great deal of banter regarding 'hate crimes' but, in my view, almost any killing unless it's in defense of your life is a hate crime.  The term has relatively little value for the people who commit such crimes but it applies strongly to those who foment that kind of behavior.  However, they are almost never prosecuted for it.

That problem needs to be solved before there is any chance the weak-minded individuals who succumb to it will find a more positive influence.  There are too many negative waves for the weak to withstand them.  This kid could have been helped and this never would have happened but the white power people got to him first.
