Before There Were Cellphones, There Was Wooly Willy

Wooly Willy is a few years before my time or maybe he didn't make it to Sydney.

Willy may do something for you but I got intrigued by Smethport since it has such an unusual and somewhat ungainly name.  It turns out to be a tiny town in Pennsylvania with less than seventeen hundred residents.  (WIKI:  Smethport, Pennsylvania)

It was charming to discover Wooly Willy is noted as one of the significant businesses in Smethport and he is still being manufactured although it's anybody's guess where he can be marketed in a world full of cellphone kids who are tap, tap, tapping on their silly screens.

The town was named after the De Smeths family because they were the bankers / financiers behind establishing the place.

See, this is the kind of ridiculous crap we read because we love you and want to find some interesting reading.

Ed:  I've got news, Super Fly.  It wasn't that interesting.

I think it was kind of interesting; kind of Americana; kind of a time when a toy doesn't do it all for you.  It's even ahead of its time since it's for boys and girls.
