The extent to which Israel has absorbed almost every square inch of Palestine has been presented previously on Ithaka and that provides all the evidence needed regarding imperialism by the Israeli state but I take issue with calling it a Zionist conspiracy as if that actually differentiates it from any other kind of imperialism of which examples are many.
Transmogrifying simple aggression into some form of religious hatred isn't warranted when that tactic is only used in the context of Israel. That state takes land around it which doesn't belong to it and that satisfies all the requirements for imperialism; any adjuncts regarding religious motives only confound an obvious fact. Israel did that and you can see the country demolishing Palestinian houses in Palestine on just about any day of the week.
Note: it's said Caterpillar construction (i.e. destruction) equipment is being used for the demolitions in Palestine so revel in that pride if you like.
The reason the matter is germane immediately is Trump has said he will cut off any American aid to Palestine. In combination with moving the American embassy to Jerusalem, it's a clear declaration of alignment with the imperialist goals of Israel and it secondarily gives the appearance of the alignment with Judaism but that aspect is far more financial than spiritual. You can see swastikas being spray painted on synagogues in America just about any time for the proof of that. The Left doesn't do that since we really don't care what people believe so long as they're cool about it.
Further exacerbating this substantial blunder in foreign policy, Trump has said he would undo the relationship with Iran and that opening was one of the few positive accomplishments of the Obama administration with the other being the opening of Cuba. Undermining the relationship with Iran serves the immediate demands of Israel insofar as that state regards Iran as an enemy but that's hardly surprising when they regard all of the Middle East as enemies even when all of them have been living together in the Middle East for thousands of years. Now Israel feels entitled to it all.
If my read is correct, regardless of political flavor, you want fiscal conservatism but there are varying degrees of how much state intrusion you're willing to accept in concert with that. Which team offers the most state intrusion is arguable but it's not that point just now. It's also not even that significant when Clinton and Obama have been so far right-shifted a team for the Left didn't really exist.
If there's any consistent theme in the Comments, it's been most of all to stop blowing money like there's a fire sale at the dollar store. Differences may spring elsewhere but that one enjoys eternal life.
There's no need for an editorial on the policy regarding Israel when it's obviously a Bad Thing justified by hypocritical sophistry but the only question is what is anyone to do about it. We're all well past the point of marching in the street and many of those who are willing do it for illogical or useless reasons in terms of simple defiance. What precisely is the defiance and if it's logical then we will support it. However, resistance simply because of some nebulous idea Trump cheated Clinton just wastes my precious time. Where is the justification for the endless war which never really gains anything. Israel endlessly demands more land but has no real plan beyond that. Obama wanted to kill Assad but had no plan for whatever happens after that and it was the same with killing Hussein in Iraq. There's never any vision of what consequence there will be; there is only the focus on the combat which will arrest something, stop something, or whatever other self-justifying rubbish you care to name.
