This day isn't special simply because the fishwife caterwauling about the Electoral College can only go two more days.
It isn't special because the PhDs are being recalled for all academics who still believe the CIA and the grounds are they do 'shallow research' so they are not therefore suitable at the PhD level.
It isn't special because at least it's colder somewhere else than it is here but we sympathize deeply with the Original Americans freezing their asses in North Dakota while standing guard to prevent the state from poisoning their water.
It also isn't special that I probably won't take another bath until Spring time.
It is special after Russians rescued many, many people from Aleppo when no-one else has tried but that's not the reason it's special in the Rockhouse.
It is special that so many people understand the problem even when relatively few of them are on Facebook but that's not it either.
It is special at the Rockhouse because so many memories came as a result of this day and they could not have come any other way.
It is special for going to an office Christmas party with gold dust in your hair and looking like Suzy Parker, ready to stop any clock in your path ... but then realizing office parties are a drag and leaving to get on with the evening. That might have been due to the sight of the top manager in bright red plaid golf pants to celebrate the season is his festive, golfer way.
It is special for things no-one else will ever know and none of these things will ever go away.
It's special because there's still the opportunity to say thank you.
