Facebook has already taken the position they will censor any news they judge to be fake but this isn't such a huge matter when Facebook restricts news so much anyway.
It's a much bigger deal when countries take up the theme as did Germany earlier today when they voiced the concern that we must stem the increasing volume of hate speech.
These examples are from two of the countries in the world which are most forthright about free speech and yet they seek actively to curtail that right in both of them.
Nothing ever came from doing that but darkness.
America doesn't actively censor Russia Today but they might as well when it's rare to find it listed anywhere since the state has so assiduously reviled it as propaganda which, in Washingtonian parlance, means it contradicted whatever rubbish the state was spewing (e.g. the CIA claim of WMDs in Iraq, the CIA claim of Russian hacking, the suppression of anything from WIKILeaks, etc).
The consequence of carrying through hard censorship will inevitably be only mainstream news will be regarded as truth and that's one of the worst mistakes America and the world can possibly make. You saw the fiasco the media channels made out of Election 2016 and which they continue to this day. There was no more truth in what they were presenting than you could find in a vat of Crisco.
In one of the absurd ironies, the modern DINOs screamed like stuck pigs when it was found George Bush had used the CIA as an excuse or the other way around for the savaging of Iraq. The same people now scream like stuck pigs in defense of the veracity of the CIA since that it's now become convenient for them to do so.
That kind of extreme in barefaced hypocrisy is uncommon even in America where fake news has been a tradition ever since twenty-four-hour news channels and a great deal longer than that.
Almost every bad thing America did in the post-war era has been at the behest of the CIA and it's classified such that it's years later before anyone discovers whichever evil thing they did. One example is how Kissinger engineered with the CIA the assassination of Salvador Allende in Chile but propaganda has been whitewashing him ever since to the point at which we was banging Barbara Walters, ostensibly the TV Queen of Liberalism ... all except the part about screwing Fascists.
Yes, the language is brutal. These people are stone evil and now there's talk of censorship to give them cover to do even more of it.
There's no defense of fake news here at the Rockhouse but you damn sure need to identify all of it before you censor any of it.
We remind again of the Jewish lawyers for the ACLU who defended the right of the American NAZI Party to march in Skokie, Illinois, because believing in the right to free speech means believing in that right for everyone or it doesn't mean anything to anyone.
I have immense respect for the balls it took for those ACLU attorneys to do that and their actions were just about as American as you can get, going all the way back to Patrick Henry when he said, "Give me liberty or give me death."
Unless it's real liberty, it is death to a free state.
The objective has been to bring some Christmas and this doesn't. Earlier I posted some pics for a bit of show 'n tell and they in the ain't this pretty vibe but they didn't get much interest. There's no petulance in observing that but I do observe so this time it's something with a bit more beef to it.

Not at all since the purpose isn't America bashing but America repairing. People say they want America to be great again but that can't possibly happen until they respect any given Amendment to the Constitution as much as any other or the entity they try to make great won't really exist anymore.
