The Only Day in Sports that Matters

Today Germany will play Argentina for the World Cup title.

Here is some history Cat sent sent me:

1990 FIFA World Cup ..... The tournament was won by West Germany, who claimed their third World Cup title by defeating reigning champions Argentina 1–0 in the final, a rematch of the previous final four years earlier. Hosts Italy beat England 2–1 to finish third after both lost their semi-finals in penalty shootouts. It would be the last tournament to feature a German side representing the divided Germany, with the country being reunified later in 1990.

So Argentina will be bringing a bit of attitude to settle that previous loss.  It might not have been so good for Germany to have trounced Brasil so substantially as that must cause a bit of wtf thinking in the team.  The Netherlands thumped Brasil yesterday also as Brasil lost its spirit when it lost Neymar.  Brasil's captain was out due to a red card in the game with Germany but he was back last night.  I did not see the game but I gather his performance was less than distinguishing.  Some say he should have got another red card.

Most thinking is that Germany will take it but the stage is still the World Cup and nothing is concluded.

The BBC will carry the Germany vs Argentina game video and this will be accessible for free in Britain and some (most?) parts of Europe.

My hope is that I can get this computer logged onto an American cable system and watch it for free that way.  It will be carried, for one, on ESPN.
