There's Genius in America's Allies ... But Not This One

When you have an American-made Patriot missile system, you've got a set of rockets, each of which sells for three million dollars and, oh, yes, we're sure they're worth every penny of it.

One of the technological marvels of the Patriot missile system is it can shoot down drone aircraft and that might even be useful for those Predator drones but possibly not so much when it's a crumby commercial toy ISIS put together for two-hundred dollars or so.  (RT:  US ally used $3mn Patriot missile to down $200 drone)

There's stupid and then there's military stupid.

Presumably the system is flanked by some Patriots although it's not known which one of these geniuses will be ponying up the three million to pay for it.  The sergeant doesn't seem too pleased because she has to explain these morons to the captain.

Ed:  what Army is that?

Unknown.  Clinton was pushing this crap out to anyone with the money so this could be almost anywhere.

The American military was less than impressed.

“Now, that worked, they got it… that quadcopter that cost $200 on did not stand a chance against a Patriot.”

While Perkins admitted the ally “won” when it came to the “kinetic exchange ratio,” he questioned whether the move was economically wise.

“I am not sure that it is a good economic exchange ratio, in fact, if I am the enemy, I am thinking ‘I am just going to go on eBay and buy as many of these $300 quadcopters that I can and expend all these Patriot missiles,’” he said.

He went on to explain that there are more cost effective ways to combat such drones.

Let that be recorded as the first time anyone in the American military ever used the expression 'cost effective.'
