Onboard with Juan Manuel Fangio Testing Maserati 1957 F1 - Modena Autodrome

There are many who say Juan Manuel Fangio was the best Formula 1 driver who ever lived.

You can see the drifting since you will see some counter-steering to control it.  Fangio is driving this brutal beast like a go-kart.  Even for the time, this was bloody fast.

The snarl of the Maserati is beauty and the audio isn't so tremendous but please do cut them slack for a video from material which is sixty+ years old.

My ol' Dad wouldn't have even let us drive the karts with the kit he was wearing.  You will suit up in leather and a full-cover helmet or you don't drive.  Fangio didn't even wear a jacket to run flat-out.

The gauges on the instrument panel may amuse you since it hardly has any and those tires are just ridiculous but this was top of the line, full race kit for the World Driving Champion.

Here's one more from the same year with Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss at the Twelve Hours of Sebring in 1957.

This was before I was much aware of big time racing and it's like watching it from the same time dinosaurs walked the Earth.  The audio isn't the highest quality but there's still plenty of audio goodness and the track is so primitive in some ways it's hard to believe it was even legal.
