CD Baby Now Offers Simplest Way to Legally Sell Cover Songs

The Rockhouse interest in cover songs has never been high because I didn't write them and if I fail then it will be due to my own work rather than someone else's.  Nevertheless, there's huge demand for producing them and CD Baby has cleared one of the biggest hassles in releasing them:  obtaining a license.

CD Baby:  CD Baby now offers the simplest way to legally sell cover songs

Here's how:

- Sign up your new single at members.cdbaby.com
- Select the “cover song” option in the sign up process
- Pay the additional one-time processing fee of $14.99*
- CD Baby will then secure the proper license and take care of paying the songwriters and publishers as your music sells

You may disagree with the cost of it and that's your call to make but I suspect you will agree there's no easier way to do it.

Read their article for more information on the mechanics with it and maybe you will if you like that price and don't like big hassles.

CD Baby has been a long-time favorite for honesty and reliability.  They also may well provide the best distribution for music an indie may ever find.

When people post videos of car crashes on YouTube, music may be needed now more than it ever was.

Tallyho!

Note:  I was going to tag CD Baby with this but I don't believe I will since it would give the appearance of a kickback.  Ithaka is entirely unsponsored because it's the best way to ensure you know it's unbiased by external influences.
