Old Soldiers Do Make Good Presidents

Eisenhower is one of the few modern Presidents who did anything good for America and is a prime example of an old soldier in the White House.  War hawks think such people will serve them well but it's not true as Eisenhower warned the most strongly of any President who has served since against the dangers of the military-industrial complex.

Maybe you think he is unique but that's not true as we can see the same phenomenon in Ulysses S. Grant.  After serving as, arguably, one of America's greatest military leaders, he was not a war hawk in the White House but rather he sought to prevent it.  He was instrumental in civil rights, long, long before it was fashionable.  (WIKI:  Ulysses S. Grant)

Twice elected president, Grant led the Republicans in their effort to remove the vestiges of Confederate nationalism and slavery, protect African-American citizenship, and support economic prosperity nationwide. His presidency has often come under criticism for tolerating corruption and in his second term leading the nation into a severe economic depression.  (WIKI)

Abraham Lincoln is revered as the first modern Republican.  He was more of a politician than the great liberator but liberation happened in any case.

Ulysses S. Grant did not immediately follow Lincoln but soon enough and he was specifically working on improving civil liberties.  Perhaps if we dig into it we will discover he was doing things because they were 'politically expedient' as it had been with Lincoln but, frankly, we don't want to know.

The fact remains these are so different from current vintage Republicans that the only question to come is what the fuck happened to the GOP.

Note:  the recommendation of old soldiers uses two examples.  There are many others of old soldiers going to public office who became absolute dictators.  I'm sure you can quickly name at least one.  Risky business screwing around with them but, at least in these examples, it worked admirably.

There is no change to ranking of Presidents and this has been my study for some years.  It's not a grand passion as I read when it's time to read about them.  From that, I've discerned Eisenhower and FDR were the best Presidents of the last century and the others did not approach them for vision, scope of positive change, and general benefits to the world.

That led to the question of what did Grant do as a President.  The purpose wasn't to look him up just to shoot him down but rather curiosity.  Eisenhower did an exceptional job so let's see if Grant did as well.

Historians and political analysts are mixed as to whether Grant was much of a President but my consideration is more toward what they tried to do rather than what they actually accomplished.

In contrast, we have modern Republicans or people who claim they are.  Ben Carson's most recent stupidity was to say he doesn't need Secret Service because ... God.  It was something of that nature, I couldn't be bothered to read about the fool anymore.

Regardless, how about we ask Ulysses S. Grant if God stops bullets.

Ulysses S. Grant:  No.  God doesn't stop imbeciles either.

On a more substantial level, what the fuck did happen to the GOP.  Given the radical contrast between early Republicans and the ones today, what explanation is there other than massive corruption of money (same applies to Democrats as well).

Let's see ... also need a chart of tax rates on the different classes over the course of American history. Someone should have made one of those.  If we then correlate that to whatever was happening at the time, there could be some interesting revelation in it.

One thing I know for sure is not one of those deadbeat shit for brains current Presidential candidates will do it.

Fucking fool, James Woods with his 184 IQ, is a huge supporter of Carly Fiorina.  From that we conclude he may be smart but he does not read.

So, let's use Fiorina, the selection of possibly the Smartest Motherfucker in Hollywood, and contrast her with real Republicans such as Lincoln, Grant, Eisenhower, all men who made substantial changes to the long-term benefit of America ... and Fiorina sings to her dogs while she dreams of busting Planned Parenthood.

Great pick, Jim Bob.  Have a cigar.
