B2 and Son of B2 - Boning the Kids of the Future for Illusion of Safety

The B2 bomber is one of the most useless aircraft flying today as it's the long-range bomber whose only real purpose is in a nuke war ... and we all die ... so it has no real purpose.

Now Northrop Grumman will make Son of B2 and they dance about with what this will cost and, gee whiz, it will replace the aging bomber fleet.

So, to get a glimmering on what Son of B2 will cost, we thought let's take a look at what the B2 program cost.

Um, good luck on that, Clipboard Sam, as it doesn't appear anyone really knows.  Here's a GAO report Cost to Complete 20 Aircraft Is Uncertain and that was twenty years ago.  So, what changed since then.

Now we discover there are 74 of them with 20 in reserve.  'In reserve' probably means broken as they're in reserve for what.  Do not open unless nuclear war?

In '97, the B2 program cost was about $45 billion with no significant increases after '98.  (GAO:   B-2 Bomber: Cost and Operational Issues (Letter Report, 08/14/97, GAO/NSIAD-97-181).)

Here's the recent blather from CNN about Son of B2:  CNN: Pentagon awards Northrop Grumman stealth bomber contract

No way Lockheed Martin was going to get the contract after the shabby and hugely-expensive job they have done on the F-35 which still has all kinds of bugs.  Presumably Boeing is too busy with their space program and buying it from Russia (e.g. they use Russian rocket boosters).

So, what did all those B2 bombers cost.  Well ... we still don't know.  Now they tell us what Son of B2 will cost as if they have the faintest idea what it will really be.  In part of it, CNN openly mocks the Air Force by observing the claimed costs for Son of B2 are only a third of what was claimed for the original B2.

And what do you get from either one of them ... nothing.  They have used B2 bombers on missions to Iraq but, so what, they could have done the same thing with B52 bombers and this crap about them being too old is bloody rubbish.  They could keep those aircraft in the air for a hundred years if it were their purpose to do so.  They already have the range to nuke bomb the entire Soviet Union, not that any would reach targets, but these aircraft are irrelevant in a strategic missile war because of the massive damage which a strategic missile can inflict due to the much more powerful payload.  In other words, if there's anything left after the missiles hit Russia, you already lost.

This money is absolutely wasted and the aircraft is a military charade in the front of Something Which Must Never Happen.  In a nuke war, everybody dies and this has been covered in so many thousands of ways since the madness started.  The military ignores that altogether and continues preparing for a war which cannot be won.  That's all very well until they send you a gigantic bill for it.  The Emperor's new clothes look ridiculous but even more absurd is you paid for them.

And you bet you pay for it.  Check out how much:
